From runway to waves.

I’ve always loved to draw and paint. Growing up with parents who longed for their daughter to pursue an “honorable” profession, all I could think about was studying art. When they moved us to Europe in the middle of the school year, we got into a huge fight. That’s when I bought a one way train ticket to Paris.

Eventually I applied to Parsons Paris, finished my studies in Fashion Design, and hopped on a plane to Shanghai to work in the fashion industry for 13 years. Then, I met the guy who would become my husband.

An avid athlete and lover of the water, he and I fell in love through adventures in wakeboarding, kite surfing, and bicycling. His job took us and our two sons to San Francisco, He began waking up early to drive to Pacifica, Ocean Beach, and Half Moon Bay to surf more seriously.

He also started refurbishing surfboards. Knowing I love to draw, paint, sew, and upcycle stuff, he suggested I do something to one of his fixed-up, blank boards to make it special. Something surfable, beautiful, and unique.

I started that evening on a manta ray, his favorite sea creature. He loved it. I appreciated the hydrodynamic lines and smooth curves of the surfboard as a canvas for my designs. I would describe my surfboard art as highly detailed and meditative, with a joyful love of color. I work from a love of the visual language of surfing and the harmony with the ocean it represents.

If you’re looking for a special surfboard but don’t know where to begin, I can help you find the right surfboard and customize it just for you or the surfer in your life. If you have a board, whether it’s dinged up or smooth as a baby, and want to turn it into art, contact me to discuss your vision and get a quote. I love to meet new people and look forward to meeting you!
